Most of what ends up in this section was never really used. A customer ordered a wetsuit in the wrong size and sent it back. A regulator came back because someone changed their mind about the configuration. A box got crushed in transit while the contents stayed perfectly fine. None of that gear can be sold as new, but almost all of it is functionally indistinguishable from new — and it's priced accordingly.

Condition Grades Explained

Before You Buy — What to Know

• No manufacturer warranty. Open box and used products are not eligible for manufacturer warranty coverage. This is the single most important difference from buying new, and it's why the price is lower.
• Read the condition note. Each listing states its grade and often includes specific detail about blemishes or missing packaging. That note is the accurate description of the item you'll receive.
• Returns work differently. Open box and used purchases can be returned within 30 days with RMA approval, but the customer pays for the return label rather than receiving a free one.
• Have life support serviced. Regulators and BCD inflators are life support equipment. Whatever their condition grade, have them inspected and serviced by a qualified technician before diving them.

What is the difference between “open box” and “used”?

Open Box items are generally unused — typically customer returns where the packaging was opened but the product was never dived. Used items in the Like New through Acceptable grades have seen some actual use, with the grade indicating how much wear is visible. Both are inspected and graded before listing.

Do open box products come with a warranty?

No. Open box and used products are not eligible for manufacturer warranty coverage. This applies regardless of condition grade, including items graded Open Box that appear unused. If warranty coverage matters to you, buy new.

Is it safe to buy used life support equipment?

Regulators, BCDs, and inflators are life support equipment and should be professionally inspected and serviced before use regardless of where or how you bought them. Many divers buy open box regulators specifically because the savings more than cover a full service — which is what you'd want done anyway before trusting any regulator you didn't buy new.

Will the original packaging be included?

Not necessarily. Across every condition grade, original packaging may be damaged or missing. If packaging matters — for a gift, for example — buy new instead.

Can I return an open box item?

How much can I actually save?

It varies by item and condition grade. Discounts are generally most substantial on higher-ticket equipment — regulators, BCDs, dive computers, and drysuits — where a small cosmetic blemish translates into a meaningful reduction on an item that functions identically to new.
