Open Box Accessories — The Small Things That Make Dives Work
Nobody plans a dive around a bolt snap. But a clip that won't open with cold hands, a mask strap that snaps on a boat, or a missing O-ring can end a dive as effectively as a major equipment failure. Accessories are where a kit either comes together or quietly falls apart.
This collection covers clips, retractors, bolt snaps, spools, straps, O-rings, service parts, and the general hardware that keeps a dive kit functioning. Every item is inspected and graded before listing; see Product Conditions for full definitions.
What's In This Category
- Clips and bolt snaps — for attaching lights, SMBs, spools, and stage bottles. Stainless steel bolt snaps are the technical standard because they operate reliably with thick gloves.
- Retractors — keep gauges and small items tethered but reachable, and stop them dangling into coral.
- Spools and reels — for SMB deployment and line work.
- Replacement straps — mask straps, fin straps, and spring strap upgrades.
- O-rings and service parts — consumables worth having spares of, particularly when travelling.
- Weight pockets and trim weights — for fine-tuning balance.
Worth Carrying Spares Of
Some accessories are cheap enough that having a spare is obviously worth it, and painful enough to lack that it's worth doing deliberately. A spare mask strap, a couple of O-rings in the sizes your regulator uses, and a spare fin strap or bungee cover most of the failures that actually cancel dives on a trip.
None of these are expensive, and open box pricing makes stocking a spares kit genuinely cheap.

Frequently Asked Questions
What spares are worth carrying on a dive trip?
A mask strap, a fin strap or bungee, O-rings in your regulator's sizes, and a spare mouthpiece with a zip tie. Those four cover the majority of small failures that would otherwise cost you a dive, and they take up almost no space.
Why do technical divers prefer stainless bolt snaps?
They open reliably with thick gloves and cold hands, they don't corrode, and the gate mechanism is simple enough that there's very little to fail. Plastic clips are lighter but harder to operate with gloves and more prone to breaking.
Are accessories safe to buy used?
Most are — hardware like bolt snaps, retractors, and spools has essentially nothing to fail and cosmetic wear is irrelevant. O-rings and other consumables are best bought new regardless of price, since they're inexpensive and their condition matters.
Do open box accessories come with a warranty?
No. Open box and used products are not eligible for manufacturer warranty coverage.
