Fusion Marine Speakers: Signature Series 3i, Apollo, XS, FM, EL and SM

Fusion builds marine speakers in tiers so you can match the boat and the budget. The Signature Series 3i is the flagship: CURV woven composite cones, silk dome tweeters, CRGBW lighting and plug-and-play marine connectors. The Apollo speakers (October 2024) are the new premium line with dual LED rings and screwless grilles. The XS Series is Garmin's midrange, including the RGB wake tower pods. The FM Series mounts nearly flush with a 3 mm grille, the EL Series is the entry-level 6.5, the SM Series fits where only 24 mm of depth exists, and the MS-CL602 goes in a cabin ceiling. All are built to Fusion's True-Marine standard or IP65 minimum and sold by DiveCatalog.com as an authorized Garmin dealer. Specifications come from Garmin's official product pages and install manuals.

The Lineup in Detail

Signature Series 3i: The Flagship (June 2022)

Fusion's best speakers use a CURV woven fiber composite cone that is lighter and stronger than polypropylene, a silk dome tweeter, and water-resistant plug-and-play connectors that make installation and replacement a matter of clicking leads together. The coaxial models come in 6.5, 7.7 and 8.8 inches in Classic White, Sports White and Sports Gray, with CRGBW lighting (red, green, blue, cool white and warm white) optional on 6.5 and 7.7 and standard on the 8.8 sports. The 8.8-inch wake tower speakers (November 2022) put the same drivers in enclosures that Garmin says are "acoustically optimized to produce premium sound that cuts through the air on every run," at 330 watts peak with CRGBW standard. The component tweeters are 1-inch aluminum dome dash tweeters with an internal passive crossover, 330 watts peak, in a 51 mm cutout.

Apollo Speakers: The New Premium Line (October 2024)

Garmin extended the Apollo name from stereos to speakers with a series it describes as delivering "high-fidelity audio, new aesthetics, improved lighting." A new motor design and composite cone, a hexagonal silk dome tweeter, removable screwless grilles, dual-hue CRGBW LED rings and ABYC plug-and-play connectors, in 6.5, 7.7 and 8.8 inches rated 75, 100 and 130 watts RMS, IP66 and IP67. The lighting integrates with Garmin Spectra LED control modules so it can be run from a chartplotter or the ActiveCaptain app.

XS Series: Midrange Performance, RGB Wake Towers (February 2022)

Garmin positions XS "at a midrange price point" with injection-molded polypropylene cones and aluminum dome tweeters in 4, 6.5 and 7.7 inch coaxials, each shipped with both Classic and Sports grilles, with RGB lighting on the Sports models. The XS wake tower speakers are 6.5-inch pods rated 200 watts peak and 120 watts RMS with RGB lighting, pipe and flat mount brackets, interchangeable grilles and an IP67 rating, with DSP speaker profiles selectable in the app when paired with a DSP stereo.

FM Series: Nearly Flush

For a clean, minimal look, the FM Series grille protrudes just 3 mm from the surface in round or square, white or black. The 6.5-inch is rated 120 watts peak and 30 RMS; the 7.7-inch 200 watts peak and 50 RMS, both with aluminum dome tweeters, IP65 and True-Marine testing.

EL Series and SM Series: Entry Level and Shallow Mount

The EL Series 6.5 (redesigned January 2023) is "engineered to deliver a high-quality audio experience at an entry-level price": 80 watts peak, an IMPP cone, IP65, a shallow 43 mm depth, in classic white or sports gray with an RGB option. The SM Series 6.5 is for panels with almost no depth behind them: a 24 mm minimum mounting depth with a surface-mount design that stands 25 mm proud, 100 watts peak, IP65.

MS-CL602 In-Ceiling Cabin Speakers

Coaxial speakers for cabin headliners with a 206 mm cutout, 120 watts peak and 40 RMS, a silk dome tweeter and a 6 ohm nominal impedance, with a mounting template in the box.

Fusion Speaker Features Explained

CRGBW lighting: red, green and blue LEDs plus cool white and warm white for a wider range from soft pastels to vivid colors, controlled by the Fusion CRGBW wireless remote or Garmin Spectra modules.

CURV cone: a woven fiber composite that Garmin describes as lighter and stronger than traditional cones, used on Signature Series 3i and Apollo.

True-Marine: Fusion's standard for salt fog, temperature, vibration and UV testing, backed by a 3-year warranty.

Plug-and-play connectors: water-resistant audio and LED connectors on Signature 3i coaxials, Apollo and the component tweeters that replace bare-wire splicing.

Frequently Asked Questions: Fusion Speakers

What is the difference between Signature Series 3i and Apollo speakers?

Both use CURV cones, silk dome tweeters, CRGBW lighting and plug-and-play connectors at the same 75, 100 and 130 watt RMS ratings. Apollo (2024) adds dual LED rings, screwless removable grilles, a hexagonal tweeter, IP66 and IP67 ratings and Garmin Spectra lighting control. Signature 3i adds wake tower and component tweeter options.

Which speakers fit a shallow panel?

The SM Series needs only 24 mm of depth, the EL Series 43 mm. The FM Series needs 70 to 83 mm but sits nearly flush at the face.

Do I need the DSP stereo for these speakers?

No, but with a DSP-enabled Fusion stereo (RA210 or any Apollo) you can select the speaker's profile in the app and let DSP tune the output to it.
