Product Information

The TUSA Sport UM-2005 Lapis Freediving Mask is a low-volume freediving mask built for breath-hold divers, with 145cc internal volume. TUSA lists it with a recommended Medium fit and a weight of 101 g.

Who it is for

This mask suits freedivers from beginner to advanced, plus snorkelers and anyone who wants less air in the mask to equalize on the way down. The low internal volume and the skirt that brings the lens closer to the face reduce the air you need to add at depth, so training dives, reef exploration and pool sessions stay distraction free. The matte-textured frame, skirt and straps give the mask a smooth matte finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size TUSA Lapis freediving fin should I order?

Measure your foot length in centimeters, barefoot or in the fin socks you dive in, then match it to TUSA's chart: S covers 23 to 25 cm, M covers 25 to 27 cm, L covers 27 to 29 cm and XL covers 29 to 31 cm. Call 888-701-4017 if you want a second opinion.

Why does the Lapis fin set come unassembled?

TUSA supplies the Lapis UF2201 with the foot pockets and the fiberglass blades as separate components, so you join them yourself. This lets you configure the foot pocket and blade to the fit and diving style you prefer rather than receiving one fixed factory setup. Both parts are Lapis line components designed to be used together.

What is the Lapis blade made of, and why is it transparent?

The blade is fiberglass with silicone side ribs, and TUSA finishes it in a highly transparent, photogenic design. The fiberglass blade is flexible, which TUSA says supports a smooth, natural kick. TUSA finishes the blade in a highly transparent, photogenic design.

Is the TUSA Lapis suitable for scuba as well as freediving?

TUSA lists reef exploration, breath-hold training and recreational freediving; the existing listing also mentions scuba enthusiasts. The three-rubber foot pocket combines comfort, support and efficient energy transfer from foot to blade.

What does UM-2005 mean on the TUSA Lapis mask?

UM-2005 is TUSA's model number for the Lapis freediving mask. The plain-lens colors are UM-2005-WW (White), UM-2005-BKBK (Black) and UM-2005-FB (Fish Tail Blue). The mirror-lens versions carry an M in the code: UM-2005M-WWD (White/White) and UM-2005M-BKBKD (Black/Black). All share the same 145cc low-volume frame and Slide Adjuster strap.

Why does a 145cc internal volume matter for freediving?

Less air inside the mask means less air you have to add from your lungs to equalize as you descend. The Lapis holds 145cc and its skirt is shaped specifically for freediving, which brings the lens closer to your face and helps prevent mask squeeze.

What size is the TUSA Lapis freediving mask?

TUSA lists one recommended fit: Medium. The frame measures 51 x 166 mm, the fitting dimensions are 108 x 134 mm, and the mask weighs 101 g, so it is aimed at average adult face shapes. If you are unsure whether a Medium fit works for you, call 888-701-4017 and we will talk through it.

Is the lens treated, and do I still need defog?

The Lapis lens is anti-fog treated from the factory and UV380 rated; follow normal mask care and use defog if you prefer.
