Product Information
The vívoactive 5 is a GPS fitness smartwatch built around a 1.2 in (30.4 mm) AMOLED touchscreen running at 390 x 390 pixels, with an optional always-on mode. The case is fiber-reinforced polymer with an anodized aluminium bezel and a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 lens, and the watch measures 42.2 x 42.2 x 11.1 mm and weighs 23 g on its own or 36 g with the included silicone band.
Battery life reaches up to 11 days in smartwatch mode, or 5 days with the display always on. Battery saver smartwatch mode extends that to 21 days. With GPS running the watch lasts up to 21 hours in GPS-only mode, up to 17 hours using all satellite systems, and up to 8 hours using all systems with music playing. It holds 4 GB for on-device music and charges from a Garmin proprietary plug charger.
Health tracking covers wrist-based heart rate measured every second, resting heart rate, high and low heart rate alerts, respiration rate, Pulse Ox blood oxygen as a spot check or optionally all day and during sleep, Body Battery energy monitoring, all-day stress, sleep score and insights, sleep coach, nap detection, fitness age, women's health and Health Snapshot. Positioning uses GPS, GLONASS and Galileo, and the watch also carries a compass, accelerometer, ambient light sensor and Garmin Elevate wrist heart rate monitor.
The watch is rated 5 ATM, so it is suitable for swimming, and it records both pool and open-water swims alongside more than a dozen other activity profiles including running, cycling, strength, HIIT, yoga, pilates, racket sports, rowing and stand-up paddleboarding. A wheelchair mode with a push tracker and wheelchair-specific workouts is included. Garmin Pay handles contactless payment from the wrist, and incident detection can send an alert during selected activities.
Compatibility: 20 mm industry-standard Quick Release bands. The case fits wrists with a circumference of 125–190 mm. Connectivity is Bluetooth, ANT+ and Wi-Fi, and the watch pairs with the Garmin Connect app on iPhone and Android.
