TUSA Regulators — ANSTI-Tested, Cold-Water Ready
Every TUSA regulator is subjected to rigorous testing on an ANSTI machine before it ships — inhalation resistance, exhalation resistance, work of breathing, and intermediate pressure are all verified against specification. That's not a marketing claim; it's a quality control commitment that reflects TUSA's engineering philosophy across its entire product range, going back to 1952.
At DiveCatalog.com, we carry the current TUSA regulator lineup as an authorized dealer.
The TUSA Regulator Range
RS-790 / R-700 — Cold-Water Engineered First Stage
The R-700 first stage uses a Dry Ambient Pressure Chamber that prevents water contact with the diaphragm and spring, maintaining clean, consistent performance at depth. The ribbed top cap section is engineered to act as a heat radiator, increasing heat transfer to the critical internal parts most susceptible to freezing when gas pressure drops rapidly in cold water — a design detail specifically aimed at cold-water diving reliability. Port configuration includes two high-flow low-pressure ports (providing up to 15% more airflow than standard LP ports), two standard LP ports, and two HP ports. The paired S-90 second stage is pneumatically balanced for smooth, consistent breathing with a built-in Venturi adjustment lever offering Surface and Dive positions. Available in Yoke configuration.
RS1001 — Compact Balanced Diaphragm
The RS1001 pairs the compact, lightweight R1000 balanced diaphragm first stage with the S0001 second stage. The R1000 provides four LP ports (two high-flow, two standard) and two HP ports — a full complement for multiple hose configurations. The cold-water insulation system maintains performance in cooler conditions. The S0001 features a Venturi adjustment lever and an ortho-consciously designed mouthpiece for comfort and reduced jaw fatigue, with left- or right-hand configuration flexibility. Available in Yoke and DIN, with EN250 A cold-water certification on the DIN version.
Safe Second SS-0001 — Compact Octopus
A lightweight, compact octopus in a composite case, supporting left or right-hand configuration. The Venturi adjustment lever improves breathing comfort, and the ortho-consciously designed mouthpiece matches the ergonomic philosophy of the primary second stages. An efficient, well-matched backup regulator for any TUSA primary system.

Frequently Asked Questions — TUSA Regulators
What is ANSTI testing?
The ANSTI machine (Anti-Fatigue and Simulation Testing Instrument) simulates real-world breathing patterns at depth, measuring inhalation and exhalation resistance and work of breathing at standardized flow rates and pressures. TUSA tests every regulator on this equipment before shipping rather than relying on statistical sampling.
What is the Dry Ambient Pressure Chamber on the R-700?
It prevents water from contacting the internal diaphragm and spring of the first stage, keeping those components clean and functioning correctly regardless of diving conditions — salt water, silt, or contaminated water cannot reach the internal mechanism.
What is the ribbed top cap for on the R-700?
It's engineered to act as a heat radiator for the first stage, increasing heat transfer to the internal components most susceptible to freezing when gas pressure drops rapidly in cold-water conditions.
