Product Information
The Hollis HTS 2 Harness Tech System 2 Back Inflate BCD is a modular back-inflate harness that converts from a single-tank soft pack to a dual-tank system, so one rig can be personalized to the way you dive. It is sold as a harness only, in five sizes from SM to 2XL, and it accepts Hollis wings including prior-generation LX models from 25 lb to 60 lb as well as the newer ST and DT series.
Who it is for
This is a harness for the technical and advanced recreational diver who wants one platform for several configurations: single-tank diving on a soft pack today, doubles on a backplate later. Because the wing and accessories are chosen separately, it suits divers building a rig for a specific cylinder setup, and the padded shoulder straps, lumbar-supported back pad and carry handle make it practical for long days of boat and shore diving.
Key details
- Streamlined modular harness system, single-tank soft pack to dual-tank conversion
- Comfort back pad with lumbar support and a carry handle
- Padded shoulder straps with oversized quick-release buckles
- Adjustable sternum strap with 2 mounting positions
- Stainless steel D-rings and cam buckle included
- 2 in (5.1 cm) webbing crotch strap with removable vehicle hook ring
- No-slip cam bands with plastic buckles

Compatibility and sizing
The HTS 2 accommodates single-tank wings without an STA and is compatible with prior-generation Hollis LX wings (25 lb to 60 lb) as well as the new Hollis ST and DT series wings. Sizes are matched to height, weight, chest and waist: SM fits 5'2" to 5'7", MD 5'7" to 5'11", LG 5'11" to 6'2", XL 6'2" to 6'5" and 2XL 6'5" to 6'8". See the full chart in the specs table.

Frequently Asked Questions
How should a scuba BCD fit?
A BCD should fit snugly enough that it does not ride up toward your ears when inflated, while still letting you breathe fully. Fasten the waist and cummerbund first, then adjust the shoulder straps so the tank sits close to your back and the shoulders cannot slide off. With the BCD fully inflated at the surface you should still be able to take a deep, comfortable breath; if it squeezes your chest, loosen it or move up a size.
How do I rinse and care for a BCD after diving?
Rinse the outside in fresh water and also flush the inside of the bladder, because salt water gets in through the inflator and dump valves. Fill the bladder roughly a third full of fresh water through the oral inflator, slosh it around, then drain it out through the inflator and each dump valve. Hang it to dry out of direct sunlight and store it partially inflated so the bladder walls do not stick together.
Should I use integrated weights or a weight belt?
Integrated weight pockets carry the lead in the BCD itself, which many divers find more comfortable and easier on the hips, while a weight belt keeps the weight independent of your BCD. Either way, you must be able to release your ditchable weight quickly with one hand, and your buddy should know how your system releases. Non-ditchable trim pockets are useful for balance but should never hold weight you might need to drop.
How do I pack a BCD for travel?
Make sure the BCD is completely dry inside and out before packing so it does not mildew in transit. Remove all weights, deflate it fully, and fold or roll it around softer items such as a wetsuit to cushion the inflator and valves. Avoid hard creases in the air cell, and unpack and air it out as soon as you arrive.
When does a BCD need to be serviced?
Follow the service interval in the manufacturer's manual, which is commonly an annual inspection alongside the rest of your life-support gear. Have the inflator, dump valves, and bladder checked any time the inflator sticks, free-flows, feels rough, or the BCD holds air poorly. Between services, confirm that it inflates and deflates properly as part of every pre-dive check.
What is the difference between a jacket-style and a back-inflate BCD?
A jacket-style BCD holds air in panels that wrap around your sides as well as your back, while a back-inflate BCD keeps the entire air cell behind you. Jacket styles tend to feel very stable and upright at the surface, and back-inflate styles keep the chest clear and are often preferred for horizontal trim underwater. Neither is objectively better, so treat it as a fit and preference decision and try both if you can.
Will my BCD fit any scuba tank?
Most recreational BCDs use an adjustable cam band sized for common single-cylinder diameters, so standard aluminum and steel tanks generally work. Re-check the band tension after the first wetting, because webbing can relax slightly and let the tank shift. If you dive doubles or unusual cylinder diameters, confirm compatibility with the manufacturer before assuming it will hold.
Which wings fit the Hollis HTS 2 harness?
The HTS 2 is compatible with prior-generation Hollis LX wings in 25 lb through 60 lb lift, as well as the newer Hollis ST series and DT series wings. The harness is sold on its own, so you choose the wing and accessories separately to match single-tank or dual-tank diving. If you are unsure which lift suits your cylinders and exposure suit, contact us before ordering.
Do I need a single tank adapter (STA) with the HTS 2?
No. The HTS 2 accommodates single tank wings without an STA in its single-tank soft pack configuration. The included no-slip cam bands with plastic buckles hold the cylinder in place. When you move the system to a dual-tank setup, the harness converts to a backplate-style configuration instead.
How do I choose the right HTS 2 size?
Hollis sizes the HTS 2 by height, weight, chest and waist. SM covers 5'2" to 5'7" and 120 to 155 lb, MD 5'7" to 5'11" and 150 to 185 lb, LG 5'11" to 6'2" and 180 to 210 lb, XL 6'2" to 6'5" and 195 to 240 lb, and 2XL 6'5" to 6'8" and 230 to 260 lb. If you fall between sizes, call 888-701-4017.
Can I add integrated weights to the HTS 2?
Yes. Hollis offers the optional LX2 quick-release weight system for the HTS 2, which carries up to 12 lb (5.4 kg) of ballast and includes stainless steel D-rings. It is not part of the harness package, so it is purchased separately. The harness also has a 2 in (5.1 cm) webbing crotch strap with a removable vehicle hook ring to help keep the rig stable.
