Product Information

(Does not include Backpack)

The Scubapro Hydros X Air2 Women's with Color Kit Installed is a front-adjustable jacket BCD for women, built around a modular injection-molded Monprene harness and fitted with Scubapro's Air2 alternate inflator regulator in place of the standard balanced power inflator. It carries 29.2 lbs (13.2 kg) of lift, 10 D-rings and two large zippered cargo pockets, and it ships with a HYDROS BCD Color Kit already installed so the pocket and panel covers match your chosen color.

Who it is for

This is a recreational BCD for women who want a tailored, front-adjustable fit and a single hose solution for their alternate air source. The front-adjustable design lets you tune the fit across a range of torso sizes, the fully injection-molded Monprene thermoplastic shoulders and back pad deliver a tailored fit, and the Multi-Mount Accessory Matrix gives technical-minded recreational divers plenty of places to clip lights, reels and SMBs. This configuration does not include the Monprene Dual Compound backpack.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the ScubaPro Hydros X and the Hydros Pro?

The Hydros X is ScubaPro's front-adjustable take on the Hydros concept, while the Hydros Pro is the back-inflate model. The X uses injection-molded Monprene on the shoulders and back pad with a PU-coated 420-denier nylon jacket; the Pro's entire fabric-free harness is molded Monprene gel. Both share the same interchangeable Hydros color kits. If you prefer the familiar feel and surface stability of a front-adjustable BCD, choose the X; if you want the body-hugging modular gel harness in a streamlined back-inflate design, choose the Hydros Pro or its successor, the Hydros Pro 2.

What size ScubaPro Hydros X should I get?

Per ScubaPro's official size chart — Men's: S (5'2"–5'7", 120–155 lbs), M (5'7"–6'0", 143–187 lbs), L (5'10"–6'2", 176–242 lbs), XL/2XL (6'1"–6'6", 220–285 lbs). Women's: XS/S (4'11"–5'7", 95–145 lbs), M (5'3"–5'11", 120–170 lbs), L (5'7"–6'1", 150–210 lbs). If you land between sizes or are unsure, contact us before ordering — we fit these every week and can help you get it right the first time.

How much does the Hydros X weigh, and how much lift does it have?

With the balanced power inflator, the Hydros X weighs 9.2 lbs (4.2 kg) in Men's S, 9.7 lbs (4.4 kg) in M, and 10.3 lbs (4.7 kg) in L and XL/2XL; women's sizes run 9.2–9.7 lbs. Lift capacity ranges from 29.2 lbs in the smallest sizes up to 44.9 lbs in Men's L–2XL, per ScubaPro's official spec chart.

Does the Hydros X come with a travel backpack?

No. Unlike the Hydros Pro, which includes a carry-on travel backpack, the Hydros X does not — ScubaPro sells its BCD Carry Bag separately, which is why our listing notes the backpack is not included. One point of confusion worth clearing up: ScubaPro's product description mentions a 'full-sized backpack,' and that refers to the BCD's rigid molded back plate (the structure that holds your tank), not a travel bag.

What weight system does the Hydros X use?

The Hydros X has an integrated front weight system with flat-buckled quick-release pockets, plus two rear trim pouches for balancing your rig. ScubaPro's Weight Pocket Kit for the Hydros family holds up to 11 lbs (5 kg) of ballast per pocket. These use ScubaPro's classic quick-release buckle system — not the Monorail pockets introduced on the Hydros Pro 2.

How should a scuba BCD fit?

A BCD should fit snugly enough that it does not ride up toward your ears when inflated, while still letting you breathe fully. Fasten the waist and cummerbund first, then adjust the shoulder straps so the tank sits close to your back and the shoulders cannot slide off. With the BCD fully inflated at the surface you should still be able to take a deep, comfortable breath; if it squeezes your chest, loosen it or move up a size.

How do I rinse and care for a BCD after diving?

Rinse the outside in fresh water and also flush the inside of the bladder, because salt water gets in through the inflator and dump valves. Fill the bladder roughly a third full of fresh water through the oral inflator, slosh it around, then drain it out through the inflator and each dump valve. Hang it to dry out of direct sunlight and store it partially inflated so the bladder walls do not stick together.

Should I use integrated weights or a weight belt?

Integrated weight pockets carry the lead in the BCD itself, which many divers find more comfortable and easier on the hips, while a weight belt keeps the weight independent of your BCD. Either way, you must be able to release your ditchable weight quickly with one hand, and your buddy should know how your system releases. Non-ditchable trim pockets are useful for balance but should never hold weight you might need to drop.

How do I pack a BCD for travel?

Make sure the BCD is completely dry inside and out before packing so it does not mildew in transit. Remove all weights, deflate it fully, and fold or roll it around softer items such as a wetsuit to cushion the inflator and valves. Avoid hard creases in the air cell, and unpack and air it out as soon as you arrive.

When does a BCD need to be serviced?

Follow the service interval in the manufacturer's manual, which is commonly an annual inspection alongside the rest of your life-support gear. Have the inflator, dump valves, and bladder checked any time the inflator sticks, free-flows, feels rough, or the BCD holds air poorly. Between services, confirm that it inflates and deflates properly as part of every pre-dive check.

What is the difference between a jacket-style and a back-inflate BCD?

A jacket-style BCD holds air in panels that wrap around your sides as well as your back, while a back-inflate BCD keeps the entire air cell behind you. Jacket styles tend to feel very stable and upright at the surface, and back-inflate styles keep the chest clear and are often preferred for horizontal trim underwater. Neither is objectively better, so treat it as a fit and preference decision and try both if you can.

Will my BCD fit any scuba tank?

Most recreational BCDs use an adjustable cam band sized for common single-cylinder diameters, so standard aluminum and steel tanks generally work. Re-check the band tension after the first wetting, because webbing can relax slightly and let the tank shift. If you dive doubles or unusual cylinder diameters, confirm compatibility with the manufacturer before assuming it will hold.

What is the Air2 on the Hydros X Air2 Women's BCD?

The Air2 is Scubapro's alternate inflator regulator, offered as an option in place of the Hydros X's standard Balanced Power Inflator (BPI). It takes the position of the BCD's inflator on the corrugated hose, so this configuration ships with the Air2 fitted rather than the standard BPI. If you prefer the standard inflator, Scubapro builds the Hydros X with the BPI instead.

Does the color kit come already installed on this BCD?

Yes. This listing is supplied with the HYDROS BCD Color Kit installed in the color you select, so the pocket and panel covers arrive in that color. The kit itself is also sold separately by Scubapro, attaches quickly to the covers, and Scubapro recommends installation by an authorized Scubapro dealer. Color options are Black, White, Blue, Yellow, Pink, Purple, Orange, Turquoise and Army Green.

Will the HYDROS Color Kit fit other Scubapro BCDs?

The HYDROS BCD Color Kit is compatible with the Hydros X and the Hydros Pro. It is not compatible with the Hydros Pro 2, which uses the Monorail Weight System, or with the Scubapro GO BCD. The kit measures 12.79 in x 8.27 in x 1.18 in and weighs 0.35 lb, and its colors coordinate with Scubapro Seawing Nova fins.

What sizes and colors are available in the women's Hydros X Air2?

The women's Hydros X is offered in XS/S, M and L. Color is set by the installed HYDROS BCD Color Kit, with choices that include Pink, Army Green, Blue, Orange, Purple, Turquoise, White, Yellow and Black. Availability of a given color depends on the size selected, so check the size and color options on this page before ordering.

Works great, big fan of the Air 2 feature

Works great, big fan of the Air 2 feature. Note that this size runs slightly large around the waist, but the rest fits well

Fits like a glove, I originally purchased a large fin with old bootie set up, ater diving a season I realized the fin pocket was a little too big. Thank goodness that scuba pro made these to have replacment parts , I got the medium and now with my summer boots and older winter boot it fits perfectly snug.
