Will the Atomic SS1 fit my BCD?

Yes, the SS1 fits virtually any BCD on the market through Atomic Aquatics' patented adapter system, so you do not need an Atomic BC to use it. It is also offered as an add-on option for the Atomic BC2 BCD. If you are unsure which adapter matches your inflator hose and corrugated hose, call 888-701-4017 and we will confirm it with you before you order.

Can I use the SS1 with nitrox?

Yes. The Atomic Aquatics SS1 is compatible with EAN mixtures up to 50% oxygen, which covers standard recreational nitrox blends such as EAN32 and EAN36. Beyond that it combines a safe second regulator with your BC power inflator, so one unit handles buoyancy control and backup breathing.

How often does the SS1 need servicing?

Atomic Aquatics recommends servicing stainless steel models every 2 years or 200 dives, while titanium models move to 3 years or 300 dives. Service is recommended rather than warranty-mandatory. The patented Titanium Seat Saving Dynamic Orifice helps by preventing wear of the low-pressure seat, which extends seat life between overhauls.

Does the SS1 replace my octopus regulator?

Yes, that is the point of the design. The SS1 combines an octopus regulator and a BC power inflator in one low-profile body, so you remove the separate octopus and its hose from your setup. The elliptical housing lies flat against the BC to reduce drag, and oversized inflation and deflation buttons keep it easy to operate with gloves.
