Product Information
Edge 1040 Solar adds a solar charging lens to Garmin's long-distance cycling computer, pushing battery life to 45 hours against the 35 hours of the non-solar version. For multi-day touring and long gravel events that difference is the point of the unit.
The 3.5-inch transflective color touchscreen is built for sunlight rather than against it, which suits the solar design — the brighter the conditions, the better the display reads and the more the panel harvests. Storage is 64 GB internal, connectivity covers Bluetooth, ANT+ and Wi-Fi, and the unit holds 200 hours of history, 100 courses and 200 saved locations.
It works with in-ride power through the Edge Power Mount and the Garmin Charge battery pack, supports daily event-specific workout suggestions, controls smart trainers, and includes incident detection that also covers off-road riding.
