Product Information
The Dive Rite TransPlate Harness is a hybrid backplate harness for divers who want the weight-load distribution of a backpack-style system while still diving a hard metal backplate. Built on the same principle as a mountaineer’s pack, the TransPlate disperses load across the hips and back rather than concentrating it on the shoulders. Paired with a six pound steel backplate, many divers can reduce or remove weight pockets entirely.
Shoulder pads use 1000 denier ballistic nylon for tear and abrasion resistance, over 2-inch nylon webbing rated at 7,000 pounds breaking strength. Marine Grade 316 stainless steel hardware runs throughout, including bent 2-inch shoulder D-rings with adjustable placement, two waist D-rings, XT chest plates, belt buckle, cam strap buckles, and side plates. Small and medium sizes carry one bent D-ring per shoulder strap due to space. Pivot rings at chest level help the shoulder straps track the diver’s build.
Acetyl resin quick release buckles on the shoulders speed up donning and doffing, and a 1-inch nylon chest strap rated at 2,200 pounds with a Delrin quick release buckle holds the harness in position. Adjustable straps adapt across a wide range of exposure suits, and the modular 2-inch webbing platform accepts pockets and accessories. Stainless steel backplates, XT Lite backplates, and cam straps are sold separately. Made in the USA.
