Product Information

The BigBlue Combo Pack: AL450NM-II Tail & AL1800NP Black & Easy Clip 8 Color is a three-light dive kit that pairs the AL1800NP-II rechargeable primary light (1800 lumens, 10° beam, 6500K), the AL450NMT-II AAA-powered backup light (450 lumens) and an Easy Clip multi-color marker light, with both torches rated to 100 meters (330 feet). It covers primary lighting, redundancy and diver identification in one package.

Who it is for

It suits divers who need a complete light setup rather than a single torch: night divers, wreck and low-visibility divers who want a tight beam to cut through particulate, and anyone who carries a backup as standard practice. The AL1800NP-II handles signaling and primary illumination with four power levels and a built-in SOS function, the AL450NMT-II serves as a backup or a stand-alone narrow-beam light that also works for hiking, jogging, camping and fishing, and the Easy Clip keeps you identifiable to buddies with a deliberately low output that does not distract other divers.

Key details

  • AL1800NP-II: 180, 450, 900 and 1800 lumens, 10° beam, 6500K cool white, burn times of 20, 8, 4 and 2 hours, rechargeable 26650 Li-Ion cell, 5 to 6 hour charge, anodized aluminum alloy body, 35.5 mm x 139.8 mm, -113 g buoyancy, color-coded battery indicator.
  • AL450NMT-II: 450 lumens from a Cree LED, up to 4 hours of burn time, push-button tail switch, 3x AAA batteries included, anodized aluminum alloy body, 33 mm x 121.7 mm.
  • Easy Clip: red, green, blue, purple, orange and yellow output with flash mode in every color, 2x CR2032 coin cells, up to 24 hours of runtime, clips to mask straps, belts and other gear.

Compatibility and sizing

The AL1800NP-II uses the BigBlue BATCELL26650 Li-Ion cell and fits the BigBlue Goodman Handle (Slim Fit). The AL450NMT-II fits the BigBlue TDH-LTMNT helmet light mount.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do lumens mean on a dive light?

Lumens measure the total light output, but they say nothing about how that light is shaped, so a tight narrow beam can look far brighter at distance than a higher-lumen wide beam. Beam angle, color temperature, and water clarity affect what you actually see as much as the lumen figure does. Use lumens to compare lights of a similar beam type rather than as a single score of quality.

What is the difference between a primary and a backup dive light?

A primary light is your main light, usually brighter, larger, and with a longer burn time, while a backup is a small, simple light carried in case the primary fails. Any dive where you need a light to exit safely, such as a night dive, calls for carrying at least one backup. Backups are chosen for reliability and simplicity rather than for maximum output.

How long will a dive light run on one charge?

Burn time and brightness trade directly against each other, so the same battery run at a lower power setting lasts substantially longer. Manufacturers usually quote burn time at each power level, and many lights automatically step down output as the battery drains or the head heats up. Treat quoted figures as fresh-battery, ideal-condition numbers and plan for more burn time than your dive actually needs.

How do I care for the o-rings on a dive light?

The o-rings sealing the battery compartment are what keep the light from flooding, so inspect them for grit, hair, and nicks every time you open it, and wipe the sealing surfaces clean. Lubricate lightly with the grease type the manufacturer specifies, using a thin film rather than a heavy coat, because excess grease attracts sand. Replace o-rings when they look flattened, cracked, or dry, and do not over-tighten the cap in the hope of sealing a bad o-ring.

Can I fly with dive light batteries?

Lithium batteries are subject to airline and regulatory limits that vary by cell chemistry, watt-hour rating, and whether the cells are installed or loose. As a general rule lithium cells travel in carry-on baggage rather than checked baggage, with terminals protected against short circuit, but you must confirm your airline's current policy and any local rules before you fly. Carrying the manufacturer's battery specification sheet helps if you are questioned at screening.

How should I store and maintain a dive light between trips?

Rinse it in fresh water after each dive day and work the switch while it is submerged so salt does not crystallize inside it, then dry it before opening. For storage, remove or charge the batteries as the manual directs, and leave the cap loose so the o-ring does not take a permanent set. Never store a light with corroded or leaking cells inside it.

Should I turn a dive light on before I get in the water?

Test it briefly as part of your pre-dive check, but do not leave a powerful light running in air, because many are designed to shed heat into the water and can overheat on the surface. Check the manual, as some lights have thermal protection that dims or shuts them down when they are dry. Testing before you gear up is far better than discovering a dead light at depth.

What batteries does each light in this BigBlue combo pack use?

Three different power sources. The AL1800NP-II primary light runs on a rechargeable 26650 Li-Ion cell, included along with its charger, and takes 5 to 6 hours to recharge. The AL450NMT-II backup light uses 3x AAA batteries, which are included. The Easy Clip marker light runs on 2x CR2032 coin cells, also included, for up to 24 hours of runtime.

How deep can these BigBlue lights go?

Both dive torches in the pack are rated to 100 meters (330 feet): the AL1800NP-II primary light and the AL450NMT-II backup light. Rinse both lights in fresh water after each dive day and inspect the supplied spare o-rings and sealing surfaces before every battery change.

Can I mount the AL1800NP-II on a Goodman handle?

Yes. BigBlue publishes the Goodman Handle (Slim Fit) as compatible with the AL1800NP-II, which lets you run the primary light hands-free on the back of your hand. The AL450NMT-II backup light is listed as compatible with the BigBlue TDH-LTMNT helmet light mount. Mounts are sold separately and are not part of this combo pack.

How long does the AL1800NP-II run at each power level?

BigBlue rates it at 2 hours at Level IV (1800 lumens max), 4 hours at Level III, 8 hours at Level II and 20 hours at Level I. A color-coded battery indicator shows remaining charge, and the light also has a built-in SOS function. The AL450NMT-II backup provides up to 4 hours at 450 lumens.
