Product Information

The SCUBAPRO GO Travel Fin is an open-heel travel fin that pairs the secure fit of an adjustable heel system with the barefoot comfort of a full-foot fin, molded from 100% Monprene with a 25° pre-angled blade and a replaceable marine-grade bungee heel strap. It is IATA carry-on compliant and uses the Piggy Back Stack system, which interlocks one blade into the other for compact packing.

Who it is for

These fins suit the traveling scuba diver and snorkeler who wants one fin worn barefoot or over neo socks. The positive buoyancy and light, single-material build make them easy to manage on boats and in the water, and the self-adjusting bungee strap means you can slide them on quickly on a wet dive deck instead of fiddling with buckles. Six sizes are published: 3XS, 2XS, XS/S, M-L, XL and 2XL, and six colors make them easy to identify as your own in a rental pile.

Key details

  • Blade, open-heel fin in 100% Monprene construction that resists delamination and blade breakage
  • 25° pre-angled blade with a Central Power Panel for longitudinal rigidity and a channeling effect
  • Power Bars on the underside of the rails prevent over-flex and hold the angle of attack under high load
  • Replaceable, self-adjusting marine-grade bungee heel strap
  • Positive buoyancy
  • 2XS: 17.91 in overall length, 7.09 in overall width, 8.27 in foot pocket length; M-L: 20.47 in overall length, 8.27 in overall width, 9.84 in foot pocket length

Compatibility and sizing

The foot pocket is designed for barefoot use or neo socks. Sizes are published as 3XS, 2XS, XS/S, M-L, XL and 2XL. SCUBAPRO lists weights of 2.2 lbs (1.0 kg) per pair for XS-S and 2.6 lbs (1.2 kg) per pair for M-L.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the ScubaPro GO Travel and GO Sport fins?

The fit. The GO Travel is designed to be worn on a bare foot or thin neoprene socks — the classic warm-water travel setup. The GO Sport is the boot-fit version, sized for dive boots on cold-water or rocky shore entries, and adds mounting points with included skegs. Both share the same ultra-tough one-piece Monprene construction, 25-degree pre-angled blade, and self-adjusting bungee heel straps.

How do ScubaPro GO fins fit and what size should I order?

GO Travel: size on your bare foot (sizes run in combined ranges like XS/S and M/L — EU 41–44 / US men's 8–10.5 generally lands in M/L). GO Sport: size with your dive boots using ScubaPro's boot-fit chart — for example EU 42 takes a Medium with 3mm boots but a Large with drysuit boots. If you are between sizes or unsure, tell us your shoe size and boot type and we will size you correctly.

Are ScubaPro GO fins good for airline travel?

That is what they are built for — ScubaPro designed both GO models to fit in IATA carry-on compliant luggage. The GO Travel weighs just 2.2–2.6 lbs per pair and has a Piggy Back stacking system that interlocks one fin into the other to save packing space. The GO Sport is nearly as compact while giving you a boot-fit pocket for colder destinations.

How durable are Monprene fins like the ScubaPro GO series?

The GO fins are injection-molded from 100% Monprene in a single piece, which avoids the delamination that eventually kills glued multi-material fins. Power Bars on the blade prevent over-flexing, and the marine-grade bungee heel straps are replaceable. They are light fins that hold up to years of boat ladders, rinse tanks, and gear bags.

What is the difference between open-heel and full-foot fins?

Open-heel fins have an adjustable heel strap and are worn with dive boots, which protect your feet on shore entries and add warmth. Full-foot fins slip on like a shoe against bare skin or a thin sock, and are typically lighter and easier to pack. Most scuba divers choose open-heel fins with boots, while full-foot fins suit warm water, snorkeling, and pool use.

How should scuba fins fit?

Open-heel fins should be sized around the boots you will actually wear, snug with the strap set so your heel stays seated and your foot does not slide forward in the pocket. Full-foot fins should fit like a firm shoe, with no heel lift, no pinched toes, and no gap that lets water pump in and out. Too loose causes heel blisters and lost fins in current, and too tight causes foot cramps.

Should I buy dive boots before fins?

Choose your boots first and size open-heel fins around them, because sole thickness changes the foot-pocket size you need. A thin warm-water boot and a thick cold-water boot with a rugged sole can easily be a fin size apart. If you already own fins, bring them along when you buy boots so you can check the combination.

Are spring straps worth it?

Spring straps replace the adjustable rubber strap with a stainless spring that stretches on and off, so there is nothing to buckle with cold or gloved hands and no rubber strap to perish and snap mid-dive. They hold constant tension, which many divers find more comfortable and consistent. They are sized rather than adjustable, so match the length to your foot pocket and the boots you dive.

What are the best fins for travel?

For travel, length and weight matter most, so shorter blades and travel-specific open-heel or full-foot models pack more easily and save baggage allowance. Some fins have removable blades or compact foot pockets designed for luggage. Pack fins along the outside walls of your bag, where they also act as protection for softer gear.

What is the difference between paddle and split fins?

Paddle fins use a solid blade that transfers power directly, which many divers prefer for precision, control in current, and non-flutter kicks such as the frog kick. Split fins have a slit down the blade that lets water pass through, which generally makes flutter kicking easier on the legs but gives up some control and works less well with other kick styles. Neither is inherently better, so let your kick style, leg strength, and conditions decide, and try both if you get the chance.

How do I care for dive fins?

Rinse them in fresh water after each dive day, paying attention to buckles, springs, and strap channels where salt collects, and dry them out of direct sunlight. Store them flat or hanging from the foot pocket rather than standing on the blade tips, which can take a permanent bend. Check straps, buckles, and any screws before every trip, since a failed buckle is the most common fin problem.

Can you wear the GO Travel Fin with neo socks?

Yes. SCUBAPRO designed the GO Travel foot pocket to be worn barefoot or with neo socks. The replaceable, self-adjusting marine-grade bungee heel strap is designed to give a versatile fit.

How big are the GO Travel Fins when packed?

SCUBAPRO publishes an overall length of 17.91 inches and width of 7.09 inches for the 2XS, and 20.47 inches by 8.27 inches for the M-L. The Piggy Back Stack system interlocks one blade into the other so the pair takes up less room, and the fins are sized to be IATA carry-on compliant.

Do the GO Travel Fins float?

Yes. SCUBAPRO lists the GO Travel Fin as positively buoyant, so a dropped fin stays at the surface rather than sinking. That is a useful trait on boat entries and when handing gear up a ladder. Published weights are 2.2 lbs (1.0 kg) per pair for XS-S and 2.6 lbs (1.2 kg) per pair for M-L.

Are the bungee heel straps replaceable?

Yes. The GO Travel Fin uses a replaceable, self-adjusting marine-grade bungee heel strap, so a worn or damaged strap can be swapped rather than retiring the fin. The strap self-adjusts as you slide your foot in, which makes the fins quick to don on a wet dive deck or in surf. Call us at 888-701-4017 if you need replacement strap guidance.

Review summary

4.4 2229 ratings across the web

Reviewers agree these fins are comfortable and fit well right out of the box, including on wide feet, with one diver noting a perfect fit on a first ocean dive. They are positively buoyant, so they float rather than sink when you take them off at the boat. Good to know: one reviewer found the foot pocket snug against the size chart and sized up, and they work either barefoot or over 3mm socks. A reasonable pick for travel divers who want light, comfortable fins that float.

Affordable Fins

Purchased these from Amazon, before I learned about DiveCatalog.com, so while I paid more, they were still an affordable option while waiting on the warranty repair of my Scubapro Supernova fins. I wear a size 12 shoe (NIKE & New Balance) and the chart recommends XL which matched the Supernova XL fins, but to me, the pocket felt a bit tight, so I returned them for the 2XL. While you “can” wear them without a bootie, I wear Scubapro Go 3mm socks (3XL) and the still fit fine. The are positive buoyancy, although I don’t think as positive as the Supernova, but I feel better knowing they will float instead of falling to the ocean floor while doffing them prior to getting back on the boat.

What boot should I wear with these fins? I have the 6.5mm boots and they don’t fit :( please advise?

DiveCatalog.com

Hello Kris, you would wwant to wear soft or medium style soles in this fins. Like the boots you currently have the hard style sole takes up more space in the fin pocket so you will have to size up in the fins one or two sizes for that boots to fit correctly in the fin.
