Frequently Asked Questions
What makes the Atomic Aquatics B2 regulator special?
The B2 pairs Atomic's balanced Jet Seat high-flow piston first stage (chrome-plated brass with 316 stainless steel) with a second stage built from the same titanium components as their flagship T3 — including the patented titanium Seat Saving Dynamic Orifice that keeps the regulator breathing like it was just tuned. You also get Atomic's Automatic Flow Control, a rapid adjustment knob for surf entries, and the stainless Comfort Swivel that stops hose pull. At about 2.5 lbs for the yoke version, it is Atomic's most popular regulator for a reason.
Is the Atomic B2 sealed, and can it handle cold water?
The environmental seal is optional on the B2 — Atomic offers factory-sealed DIN and yoke versions that keep silt, sand, and contamination out of the first stage. For diving in water below 50°F (10°C), Atomic recommends the sealed version with the anti-freeze kit. If you dive cold water regularly and want the seal standard rather than optional, that is exactly what the ST1 offers.
How often does an Atomic regulator need service?
Every 2 years or 300 dives, whichever comes first — Atomic's officially published interval, and one of the longest in the industry (most brands require service annually or every 100 dives). Atomic also recommends a quick annual inspection by an authorized dealer between services. Over years of ownership, that service schedule is a real cost saving.
What is Atomic Aquatics' warranty on regulators?
A limited lifetime warranty for the original owner — and unusually, Atomic states the warranty is NOT contingent on proof of service. All titanium and metal parts are additionally warranted against corrosion for life. To activate it, register within 30 days of purchase, and buy from an authorized Atomic dealer (purchases from us qualify). Wear items like mouthpieces, hoses, and o-rings carry a 2-year warranty.
Atomic B2 vs ST1: which should I choose?
Both breathe through the same titanium second-stage design as Atomic's T3 flagship. The difference is the first stage: the B2 uses chrome-plated brass — Atomic's value pick with flagship performance — while the ST1 is machined from solid 316 stainless steel with roughly twice the strength of brass and corrosion resistance approaching titanium, and it comes factory-sealed and freeze-protected as standard. Choose the ST1 for cold water, heavy use, or maximum durability; the B2 covers everything else for less.
