Description

The Waterproof W8 Fullsuit Front Zip 5mm diving wetsuit for men blends Swedish design with Waterproof technology to deliver comfort, mobility, and durability for scuba and diving. Constructed from 5–6 mm neoprene with four-way super-stretch properties, it offers flexible movement and reliable warmth. The front-zip entry simplifies donning and doffing while maintaining a streamlined profile in the water.

Key features support warmth, dryness, and durability in demanding scuba diving environments, including WaterDam technology to minimize water entry, a Double Zipper Seal System for insulation, and rugged Duratex panels for abrasion resistance.

Features

  • Front-Zip Design: The W8 features a front-zip design for easy wear, providing convenience and comfort during donning and doffing.
  • Super-Stretch Neoprene: Made of extremely soft and flexible four-way super-stretch neoprene, the W8 ensures maximum mobility and comfort underwater.
  • WaterDam Technology: Waterproof's unique WaterDam technology prevents water from streaming down the neck and spine, keeping you dry and comfortable even during dynamic movements.
  • Double Zipper Seal System: Equipped with a Double Zipper Seal System behind the front zipper, the W8 minimizes water flow through the suit, enhancing insulation and warmth.
  • Duratex Panels: Tough Duratex panels on the seat, elbows, and knees provide excellent abrasion protection, ensuring long-lasting durability and performance.
  • Anti-Slip Surfaces: Anti-slip surfaces over the shoulder and waist offer added grip and stability, keeping the suit securely in place during dives.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Waterproof W8 a premium wetsuit?

The Swedish-built W8 is loaded with sealing tech most suits skip: a front YKK #10 Vislon zipper with corrosion-free slider, Waterproof's WaterDam neck design that blocks water from streaming down your spine when you turn your head, a double zipper-seal system, and double glide-skin seals with zippers at wrists and ankles. The neoprene is 100% microcell limestone CR super-stretch with a thermal Extend lining, plus a 10–12mm spine pad, Kevlar-reinforced knees, and dual draining hip pockets.

What sizes does the Waterproof W8 come in?

Men's sizes run XS through 3XL including Tall and Plus variants, and the women's version runs XS through 2XL with extended sizes — Waterproof publishes detailed measurement guidance, and fit matters more than anything else for warmth. It comes in 5mm and 7mm versions for both men and women. If you are between sizes, send us your height, weight, and chest measurement and we will size you.

How should a wetsuit fit?

A wetsuit should feel snug everywhere, with no loose pockets at the lower back, armpits, or behind the knees where water can collect and flush. It will feel tighter than normal clothing on land, which is expected, because the suit works by holding a thin layer of water that your body warms. If you cannot take a full breath or the neck chokes you it is too small, and if you can pinch loose folds of neoprene it is too big.

What do you wear under a wetsuit?

Most divers wear a swimsuit, a rash guard, or a thin dive-specific base layer under a wetsuit. A slick base layer makes a tight suit much easier to pull on and cuts down chafing at the neck, shoulders, and underarms. Avoid thick cotton clothing, which soaks up water, bunches, and makes you colder rather than warmer.

How do you put on a tight wetsuit?

Work upward in small sections, pulling a little neoprene at a time rather than yanking on one spot, and get the suit fully seated at the ankles and knees before working on the hips and shoulders. A plastic bag over each foot and hand, or wetting the suit first, helps it slide into place. Grip with flat palms rather than fingertips, since fingernails are the most common cause of torn neoprene.

Does a thicker wetsuit mean a warmer wetsuit?

As a general rule, thicker neoprene insulates more, so a higher millimeter rating is warmer in the same conditions. Warmth also depends heavily on fit, suit style, seam construction, whether you add a hood, boots, and gloves, how long the dive is, and your own cold tolerance, so two divers in identical suits can feel very differently. Use thickness as a starting point and refine it against your local conditions and personal experience.

How do I care for and store a wetsuit?

Rinse it inside and out in fresh water after every dive day, and use a wetsuit-specific wash occasionally to control odor. Dry it inside-out first and then flip it, always out of direct sunlight, because UV and heat break down neoprene faster than anything else. Store it hanging on a wide-shouldered hanger or laid flat rather than folded, so you do not set permanent creases.

How long does a wetsuit last?

Lifespan depends far more on use and care than on age, so a suit dived hard in sun and chlorine may soften within a couple of seasons while a well-rinsed occasional-use suit can last many years. Signs a suit is finished include compressed neoprene that no longer feels buoyant or warm, splitting seams, and looseness in areas that used to be snug. Repairing small cuts and seam separations early adds meaningfully to a suit's life.

What is the difference between a full suit, a shorty, and wetsuit separates?

A full suit covers arms and legs, a shorty stops at the upper arms and thighs, and separates such as tops, bottoms, and hooded vests layer to add warmth where you want it. Layering a vest or top under a full suit adds core warmth and can extend the range of a suit you already own. Choose based on how much coverage you want, both for warmth and for protection against stings and abrasion.

Waterproof W8 vs W7: what is the difference?

The zipper and the neck. The W8 is the front-zip suit, opening at the side of the neck, and it includes Waterproof's WaterDam neck seal; the W7 is the back-zip suit with a YKK #10 Vislon zipper and a Double Zipper Seal behind it, and its neck seal is an optional accessory sold separately. Everything else is essentially shared: the same Neoflex 100% microcell limestone CR super-stretch neoprene, Kevlar and Duratex kneepads, the same hip pocket system, and both are offered in 5mm and 7mm in men's and ladies' cuts.

What is the WaterDam on the Waterproof W8?

WaterDam is Waterproof's built-in neck seal concept on the W8. It blocks water from streaming down your neck and spine when you turn your head — the classic flush point on a front-zip suit and the main reason a suit that fits can still feel cold. It is a W8 feature: on the W7 a neck seal is an optional add-on you buy separately.

What warranty comes with the Waterproof W8?

Waterproof does not publish warranty terms on its product pages, so we will not quote a figure we cannot stand behind. If warranty coverage is a deciding factor for you, ask us before you order and we will confirm the current terms with the distributor in writing. Manufacturing defects are handled through us as your dealer either way.
