Product Information

The DiveVolk Dive Light 2000 Lumen SL20 is a compact underwater video light for scuba divers and underwater photographers, with a 2000 lumen high mode that runs 150 minutes, a 1000 lumen low mode that runs 300 minutes and a dedicated red light mode. It is rated waterproof to 100 meters, throws a 100 degree beam at 5600K, and weighs 260 g with its 26650 lithium-ion battery installed.

Who it is for

This light suits recreational and technical scuba divers who want a travel-friendly light for reef dives and night dives, and videographers who need a wide, even wash of light across the frame rather than a narrow spot. The red light mode lets you approach skittish subjects with less disturbance to marine life, which is useful for night and macro work. At 131 mm long and 260 g, it packs easily into a carry-on camera kit as a primary or back-up light.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the DiveVolk SL20 run on a charge?

The SL20 runs 150 minutes at its 2000 lumen high setting and 300 minutes at the 1000 lumen low setting. It is powered by one 26650 Li-ion battery rated 18.5Wh (3.7V / 5.0Ah), and recharging takes approximately 3 hours. A built-in power level indicator shows green above 70 percent, yellow between 30 and 70 percent, and red at 30 percent or less so you can check charge before entering the water.

How deep can the SL20 dive light go?

The SL20 is rated waterproof to 100 meters, which covers recreational scuba depths and deeper technical profiles. The body is aviation aluminum alloy with a military oxidation III grade finish, and the LED sits behind a 4 mm toughened ultra-clear diamond-coated glass lens. Two spare O-rings are included in the box so you can keep the seals serviced between dives.

What is the red light mode for?

The red light mode is designed to minimize disturbance to marine life. Many nocturnal and skittish subjects react less to red light than to white light, so it is useful for night dives and for approaching animals before switching to the 2000 lumen or 1000 lumen white output for video. Red is one of three modes alongside high (100 percent) and low (50 percent).

Is the SL20 bright enough for underwater video?

Yes. The SL20 produces up to 2000 lumens across a 100 degree beam angle, which gives wide, even coverage rather than a narrow hot spot, and that is what video and wide-angle photography need. Color temperature is 5600K with a CRI of 83 for natural-looking color rendition, and the LED is rated up to 50,000 hours of use.

Dive light

The DiveVolk 2000 Lumen SL20 turned out to be a lot better than I expected. It’s bright, solid, and surprisingly lightweight for the power it puts out. Underwater, the beam is clean and even — no weird hot spots — which makes it great for both video and still shots. The colors on my footage look way more natural now.

Battery life is actually pretty good. I’ve taken it on a couple of deeper dives and still had plenty of juice left when I got back on the boat. The build quality feels tough, and the controls are simple enough to change settings even with gloves on.

Overall, it’s a reliable light that does exactly what you need without overcomplicating things. For the price and performance, it’s a solid choice for any diver looking to step up their lighting game
