The Shearwater Avelo Mode Unlock Code enables Avelo Mode on compatible Shearwater dive computers for diving the Avelo System, a scuba system that manages buoyancy with water in its Hydrotank rather than with air in an inflatable BCD. Because the water inside the Hydrotank does not expand or contract with depth the way air does, buoyancy remains more stable throughout the dive, and Avelo Mode gives the dive computer the displays needed to manage that style of diving.
Avelo Mode provides a personal, gear, and buoyancy setup menu, tank pressure, gas time remaining shown as a percentage of starting pressure, a calculated buoyancy status with a user input to clear the status back to neutral, and cloud support for Avelo dive profiles. The mode is available on the Shearwater Tern TX, Teric, Peregrine TX, Perdix 2, and Perdix 3, and only functions when the computer is paired with a Swift transmitter or Shearwater Jetpack for wireless tank pressure. To purchase, the dive computer's serial number is provided to the dealer at the time of order; Shearwater generates the unlock code, which is then applied to the computer through the Shearwater Cloud app.
