Product Information

The Garmin fēnix 9 premium multisport GPS smartwatch is built for those who are always up for a challenge — and unlike most adventure watches, it's dive-rated to 40 meters. A bright AMOLED display more than twice as bright as fēnix 8, high-strength titanium bezel, scratch-resistant sapphire lens and leakproof metal buttons, tested to U.S. military standards.

Built for divers. The fēnix 9 line is dive-rated to 40 meters with a 10 ATM water rating (withstands pressure equivalent to 100 m), leakproof metal buttons and a scratch-resistant sapphire lens. Garmin's fēnix dive feature set covers scuba diving and apnea (freediving) activities, and pairs with the Garmin Dive™ app to log and review your dives — making this the rare adventure smartwatch you can genuinely take underwater, then wear to dinner.

Train harder, navigate smarter. More than 100 activity profiles with enhanced stamina metrics that show how your endurance is evolving, plus rowing and rucking enhancements. Multicontinent TopoActive maps are smoother and more intuitive with dynamic round-trip routing, NextFork map guide and grade-adjusted running pace.

Garmin Epic. Record, relive and share multiple days of activities — with photos, health and performance stats — as one cohesive storyline.

Engineered for more. Built-in speaker and microphone for calls from your wrist (paired to your phone), voice notes and voice assistant. Built-in LED flashlight guides your way after dark, and battery life runs up to 29 days in smartwatch mode (51 mm).

Can I scuba dive or freedive with it?
Yes — it is dive-rated to 40 meters (10 ATM) with Garmin's dive activities for scuba and apnea/freediving, and syncs dive logs to the Garmin Dive™ app.

How long does the battery last?
Up to 16 days (43 mm) and up to 29 days (51 mm) in smartwatch mode.

Does it have maps?
Yes — preloaded multicontinent TopoActive maps plus golf and SkiView maps, with Garmin Pay and music onboard.

Review summary

4.5 138 ratings across the web

Reviewers agree the display is the standout: bright, crisp and easy to read, with a responsive touchscreen. Battery life holds up well, often a week or two between charges when GPS use is light, and the watch tracks a wide range of activities from golf and running to cycling, swimming and hiking. Owners also like how quickly QuickFit straps swap out. Coming from a recent Fenix the gains feel small, so it suits older-model owners and anyone wanting one watch for many sports.

What reviewers like

Gains feel small from a recent Fenix; bigger jump from older models
