Product Information

The Seac Mask Pura Anti-Fog Dive Mask is a frameless, single-lens mask for scuba diving and snorkeling whose tempered glass lens is treated with a plasma process for a long-lasting antifog effect. Seac describes it as the first antifog mask for diving and snorkeling, built with a silicone skirt, a low-volume profile and a 3D buckle integrated directly into the skirt.

Who it is for

It suits recreational and professional divers, snorkelers and freedivers who are tired of sprays and burning gels and want a clear view straight out of the mask box. The low-volume shape reduces internal air space, which makes equalizing and clearing easier, so it works well as a travel mask and for deep-water use where a compact profile matters.

Key details

  • Plasma treatment makes the glass surface hydrophilic and porous, so condensation does not form as droplets; the treatment is applied twice for added reliability.
  • Tempered glass single lens in a frameless design for a wide, uninterrupted field of view.
  • High-quality silicone skirt for a comfortable seal.
  • Low-volume construction to facilitate equalization.
  • 3D buckle integrated on the skirt for quick, safe and precise strap adjustment.
  • Seac product code 0750100.

Compatibility and sizing

Offered here in seven colors: Black, White, Blue, Lilac, Red, Tiffany and Orange. If the lens mists, reactivate the antifog effect by moistening it and gently rubbing the inner surface with your fingertips.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if a dive mask fits?

Hold the mask against your face without using the strap, look slightly down, and inhale gently through your nose; a well-fitting mask holds itself in place for a few seconds. Check that the skirt seals all the way around without digging into the nose bridge, and that there are no gaps at the temples or above the upper lip. A mustache can break the seal even on an otherwise well-fitting mask.

Why does my brand new mask fog no matter what I do?

New masks carry a residue on the inside of the lens left over from manufacturing, and defog cannot stick to it, so the mask fogs until that film is removed. The standard pre-treatment is to scrub the inside of the lens with a mild abrasive cleaner or a dedicated mask prep and rinse thoroughly, repeating if it still fogs. Follow the mask manufacturer's instructions, particularly on coated or mirrored lenses.

How do I stop my dive mask from fogging?

Apply defog to a dry lens before the dive, spread it over the whole inner surface, then rinse briefly with water just before you put the mask on. Fogging happens when warm moist air meets a cooler lens, so a clean lens with a thin surfactant film is the fix. Keep sunscreen off your fingers before handling the inside of the lens, because that film fogs badly and is hard to remove.

Why do dive masks need tempered glass?

Dive mask lenses should be tempered safety glass because it resists scratching and, if it ever does break, fractures into blunt granules rather than sharp shards next to your eyes. Untempered or plastic lenses scratch easily and can craze, which is why tempered glass is standard on scuba masks. Look for the tempered marking etched on the lens.

Can I get a dive mask with my prescription?

Yes, prescription options are widely available, usually as masks fitted with stock corrective lenses in set diopter steps, custom-ground lenses installed in compatible frames, or bonded lenses added to an existing lens. Not every mask frame accepts replacement lenses, so check compatibility before you buy the frame. An optician or a dive shop can help translate your glasses prescription into a mask lens choice.

How should I care for and store a dive mask?

Rinse it in fresh water after each dive day and let it dry away from direct sunlight, avoiding anything abrasive on the treated inner lens. Store it in a rigid mask box so the skirt is never compressed or creased, since a set crease in the skirt is a permanent leak. Keep silicone skirts away from petroleum products and prolonged UV, both of which yellow and harden them.

How tight should a dive mask strap be?

Not tight at all in the usual sense, because over-tightening is the most common cause of both leaks and headaches; a hard-pulled strap distorts the skirt and lifts the seal off your face. The strap should sit high on the back of your head and be just firm enough to keep the mask from shifting. If you need it cranked down to stop a leak, the mask does not fit your face.

How does the Seac Pura antifog treatment work?

A plasma process treats the tempered glass lens so the surface becomes hydrophilic and porous. The plasma process makes the glass surface hydrophilic and porous, which prevents condensation and keeps the view clear. Seac applies the plasma treatment twice for added reliability and describes the effect as long-lasting, which is why no spray or gel is needed before each dive.

Do I need to pre-treat or scrub the Pura lens before the first dive?

No. The antifog effect is part of the plasma-treated glass, so there is no need for sprays, gels or burning the lens. If the view starts to mist, moisten the lens and gently rub the inside with your fingertips to reactivate it.

What colors does the Seac Pura mask come in?

We stock the Seac Mask Pura in Black, White, Blue, Lilac, Red, Tiffany and Orange.

Is the Pura suitable for freediving as well as scuba?

Yes. The Pura uses a low-volume, frameless construction that reduces the internal air space, which makes equalizing the mask on descent and clearing it easier. Seac lists it for diving and snorkeling and for both recreational and professional use, and its compact profile also makes it easy to pack in a travel kit.

This mask is pretty much as advertised so far

This mask is pretty much as advertised so far. I have only used it a couple of times now, but after filling the inside of the mask with fresh water and rubbing the glass with my fingers and then rinsing quickly, I had no fog build up the entire time I was snorkeling! I have not used it Scuba Diving yet, but imagine that I should have the same result.
