Product Information

The AKONA Chelan Lightweight Roller is a 149 liter (9,114 cubic inch) dive travel roller bag that weighs only 8 lbs. empty, measures 31" x 21" x 14" (78.74cm x 53.34cm x 35.56cm) and carries part number AKB140. Its low empty weight leaves more of your airline allowance for gear, while heavy-duty YKK zippers and smooth-rolling wheels keep it durable trip after trip.

Who it is for

This bag is built for the traveling diver who flies to dive destinations and needs to move a full kit of gear without the bag itself eating into the weight limit. Two separate fin pockets keep fins apart from the rest of your kit, and the hidden telescoping trolley handle suits airports and docks. The listing describes it as great for any type of travel.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much gear does the Akona Chelan roller bag hold?

The Chelan offers 149 liters of volume, which is 9,114 cubic inches, inside exterior dimensions of 31" x 21" x 14" (78.74cm x 53.34cm x 35.56cm). That space includes two separate fin pockets with breathable mesh panels and an exterior pocket with locking D-ring, so a full set of dive gear can be organized rather than piled in one cavity.

How much does the Akona Chelan weigh empty?

The Chelan weighs 8 lbs. empty. Akona builds it as a lightweight yet durable roller so more of your airline weight allowance goes to gear instead of the bag itself.

Does the Chelan have fin pockets and drainage?

Yes. The Chelan has two separate fin pockets, each with breathable mesh panels for ventilation and drainage. That lets you keep fins separated from the rest of your kit and allows wet gear to air out and shed water after a dive day.

What warranty comes with the Akona Chelan roller bag?

The Chelan is backed by Akona's Limited Two Year Warranty. The bag is listed under part number AKB140 with no separate size or color options. DiveCatalog.com is an authorized Akona dealer, so you can reach us at 888-701-4017 with any warranty or product questions.

Review summary

4.3 13 ratings across the web

Reviewers agree this roller swallows a full set of dive gear, including a 7mm suit, with room to spare, and that it stays light enough to help with airline weight limits. Several call out solid construction and good wheels. Good to know: exposed screw heads inside have snagged and even cut gear for a few owners, and longer fins may not fit, so check interior dimensions first. A good pick for divers who want one lightweight bag for travel and local dives.
