Product Information

Garmin Instinct 3 is a rugged GPS smartwatch designed for outdoor use with a bright 1.2-inch AMOLED display and a metal-reinforced bezel for impact resistance. The watch includes multi-band GPS with SatIQ technology for precise positioning and offers up to 18 days of battery life in smartwatch mode. Health and wellness monitoring features include wrist-based heart rate, Pulse Ox, advanced sleep tracking, HRV status and a Health Snapshot that syncs to the Garmin Connect app. The integrated variable-intensity flashlight and durable fiber-reinforced polymer case with scratch-resistant lens support low-light and harsh-environment use while maintaining a 45 mm case size (approx. 1.77 in) compatible with standard quick-release bands.

Frequently Asked Questions

Garmin Instinct 3 Solar vs AMOLED: which should I get, and how long do the batteries last?

Both displays come in 45mm and 50mm cases. The Solar (memory-in-pixel display) is the endurance king: up to 28 days on the 45mm and 40 days on the 50mm — and effectively unlimited with regular sun exposure. The AMOLED gives you the bright modern screen: up to 18 days (45mm) or 24 days (50mm) in gesture mode. If you want a watch you basically never charge, go Solar; if you want the display, the AMOLED still outlasts most smartwatches by weeks.

Is the Garmin Instinct 3 waterproof? Can I dive with it?

It carries a 10 ATM water rating — pressure equivalent to 100 meters — plus MIL-STD-810 rugged testing, so swimming, surfing, and watersports are no problem at all. It is not a dive computer, though: it has no dive modes or decompression algorithm. If you scuba dive, that is what Garmin's Descent line is for.

Does the Instinct 3 have a flashlight, and can I swap the bands?

Every Instinct 3 model has the built-in LED flashlight with variable intensities, plus a red light and strobe mode — one of the series' most-loved features. Bands are standard spring-bar style and swap without special tools, sized to the case width.

Garmin Instinct 3 vs Fenix 8: which should I get?

The Instinct 3 is the rugged endurance watch and the Fenix 8 is the do-everything flagship. The Instinct 3 gives you MIL-STD-810 durability, a 10 ATM water rating, an LED flashlight on every model, and battery life measured in weeks, up to 40 days on the 50mm Solar. The Fenix 8 adds a 40-meter dive rating with real scuba and apnea apps, golf, music, Garmin Pay, maps, and a speaker and microphone. If you want a watch you almost never charge, choose the Instinct 3; if you want dive capability and the full feature set, choose the Fenix 8.

Does the Garmin Instinct 3 AMOLED have an always-on display?

Garmin's headline Instinct 3 AMOLED battery figures, up to 18 days on the 45mm and 24 days on the 50mm, are quoted in gesture mode, where the screen lights up when you raise your wrist. Keeping the display lit continuously will cut those numbers substantially. If never thinking about charging is the goal, the memory-in-pixel Solar version is the better fit, at up to 28 or 40 days and effectively unlimited with regular sun.
