The Scubapro MK17 EVO2 C370 Dive Regulator delivers a lightweight, robust performance for recreational scuba diving. The MK17 EVO 2 features a new forged body that is more compact and lighter than its predecessors, delivering reliable airflow for comfortable underwater breathing across a wide range of diving conditions.

Designed for versatile diving, this regulator supports both Yoke and DIN connectors and is compatible with Nitrox mixes up to 40%. The 1st stage uses a diaphragm design with chrome-plated brass, while the 2nd stage combines a balanced design with titanium components and reinforced technopolymer casing to withstand demanding underwater environments. An adjustable 2nd stage and a coaxial dive/pre-dive lever help tailor airflow to suit diving conditions, while a large air shower button keeps air delivery control intuitive even when wearing gloves.

ScubaPro MK25 EVO vs MK17 EVO2: which first stage should I choose?

The MK25 EVO is a balanced piston first stage — it delivers the highest airflow and instant response, and it is the choice of many performance-focused and warm-to-cold water divers. The MK17 EVO2 is a sealed diaphragm first stage — its internals are isolated from water, which makes it the traditional pick for very cold water and silty or salty conditions with less maintenance sensitivity. Both are excellent; choose the MK25 EVO for maximum performance and adjustability, the MK17 EVO2 for a fully sealed set-and-forget workhorse.

Should I order my ScubaPro regulator in DIN or yoke?

Yoke (INT) is the most common fitting on rental tanks in North America and the Caribbean, so it is the simplest choice if you mostly dive at resorts. DIN screws directly into the tank valve, is rated for higher pressures, and is standard in Europe and technical diving — and a DIN regulator can use a simple adapter on yoke tanks, which makes DIN the more flexible long-term choice for traveling divers. ScubaPro sells both versions, and a yoke regulator can later be converted to DIN by an authorized dealer using a genuine ScubaPro conversion kit (DIN owners going the other way simply use a DIN-to-yoke adapter — no conversion needed).

How often does a ScubaPro regulator need service?

ScubaPro's official recommendation is a full service by an authorized ScubaPro technician every 2 years or 100 dives, whichever comes first. If you dive heavily (100+ dives a year), ScubaPro recommends an inspection every 6 months and an overhaul annually. Staying on schedule also keeps you eligible for ScubaPro's Parts For Life program — free service parts for the original owner when the regulator is registered and purchased as part of a qualifying package from an authorized dealer. Thermal Pullover

I purchased this to go along with the matching bottoms bought from Amazon but fulfilled by Divecatalog.com.

Overall, I like the quality of the material, and the material used to line the inside of the suit.

I tried both the L and XL pants, I typically wear a L in pants and shorts purchased from Columbia sportswear, but an XL top. Prior dive suits I’ve had to go with an XL to fit, so with a split top-bottom combination I get to enjoy a more tailored fit.

As far as the pants are concerned, the legs are disproportionately long IMHO.

My one complaint is the legs on the bottoms and sleeves on the top, just end, I would much prefer a sewn cuff for durability and style purposes, and my reason for subtracting one star.

Pay the extra

It may cost a little more but compared to the Scubapro Hydros Cargo Thigh Pocket, but it’s a night and day difference. I haven’t heard a complaint about the S-TEK.

The S-Tek is made from heavy-duty 1000D Cordura, to meet the stresses of the environment and hard use. How does this compare to Scubapro Hydros Cargo Thigh Pocket, people complaining the material ripping apart at the seams/stitching after 20 dives.

Mounting uses a stainless steel bolt snap to the waist harness D-ring and an adjustable strap for the thigh, the Hydros uses a plastic hook and strap.

The S-TEK is the largest of the three, measuring approximately 10” x 5” x 3” which is big enough to fit my iPhone 15 in the SeaLife SportDiver Ultra Underwater Housing.

I’m not sure where Scubapro all went wrong with the Hydros and Ninja pocket, but for the price of shipping, I would only purchase the S-TEK.

Affordable Fins

Purchased these from Amazon, before I learned about DiveCatalog.com, so while I paid more, they were still an affordable option while waiting on the warranty repair of my Scubapro Supernova fins. I wear a size 12 shoe (NIKE & New Balance) and the chart recommends XL which matched the Supernova XL fins, but to me, the pocket felt a bit tight, so I returned them for the 2XL. While you “can” wear them without a bootie, I wear Scubapro Go 3mm socks (3XL) and the still fit fine. The are positive buoyancy, although I don’t think as positive as the Supernova, but I feel better knowing they will float instead of falling to the ocean floor while doffing them prior to getting back on the boat.

Love the Supernova Dive Fins

My new Scubapro Supernova Fins had a small cut on the top of the boot. I asked the dive shop owner what he recommended to fix the boot. He informed me that they were made of monprene and suggested he reach out to the Scubapro Rep prior to trying to fix them with superglue.

I called Scubapro when I got back to the US and they recommended taking it to a dive shop for a warranty repair. Problem is Las Cruces is the nearest dive shop and that's an 11 hour trip. I took it to a dive shop when I flew back to Virginia, but they had to ship it to California, so the process took longer than my stay.

Being modular, I opted to buy a second set of the boot pockets so I don't have to worry about down time in the future should problems arise. Plus I can use Scubapro S-Tek Pro Blade if I want to go with a neutral or negative buoyancy fin.

Objects in your review mirror are smaller than they appear!

Scubapro Hydros Accessory Bungees are smaller than they look, but the Medium size works well for securing my action camera floatie handgrip in place. To set them up, you loop the bungee back through itself to attach to the d-ring fixation point. The center piece then slides down to clamp the accessory.

While they perform great with the grippy, foamy action camera handle, they may be less secure on heavier gear with a slick surface—like my dive light. For that setup, I’d recommend adding a second attachment point on the BCD (for example, using the metal d-rings with a snap hook on a longer lanyard) to help ensure the light doesn’t end up on the ocean floor.
