Forerunner is specifically tailored for runners, cyclists, and triathletes, focusing on light weight, running-specific metrics, and training optimization.

The Fenix series, especially the solar-charging models, generally offers superior battery life (up to several weeks in smartwatch mode, even longer with solar) compared to the Forerunner series.

The Fenix series is generally more expensive than the Forerunner series, reflecting its premium materials and comprehensive feature set.

The Fenix series traditionally uses a sunlight-visible, transflective Memory-in-Pixel (MIP) display, which is very power efficient and excellent in bright sunlight. The Epix series features a vibrant, high-resolution AMOLED touchscreen display, which offers brighter colors and better visibility indoors and in low light.

The MIP display of the Fenix series results in significantly longer battery life than the AMOLED display of the Epix series, especially if the Epix's display is kept in always-on mode.
