It builds on skills learned in Open Water Diver courses to make diving smoother and more controlled. PADI (Junior) Open Water Divers or higher, aged 10 and above, are eligible. Divers must be medically fit and have basic scuba experience. The course typically includes 2-3 open water dives focused on practicing buoyancy techniques and skills under instructor supervision. Yes. PADI eLearning is recommended (usually 2-4 hours) to review buoyancy theory, equipment use, and dive planning before completing the in-water portion. Key skills include achieving neutral buoyancy, hovering in place, controlling ascent and descent rates, proper weighting, and maintaining streamlined trim for efficient movement. The course is suitable for divers with basic Open Water experience. It is focused on practice and skill refinement rather than testing, so most divers find it enjoyable and achievable with instructor guidance. With eLearning and 1-2 days of in-water dives, most divers complete the course within a weekend. Divers gain smoother, more efficient movements underwater, reduced air consumption, and improved ability to approach marine life without disturbance.PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy FAQs
