PADI® Open Water Diver Course
The PADI® Open Water Diver course is the first step toward becoming a certified scuba diver. Training is led by a certified PADI Instructor who guides you through each stage in a calm and supportive setting.
This course builds the fundamental skills and knowledge needed to dive confidently at local sites or international destinations. Graduates are prepared to dive safely and responsibly while representing the beauty of the underwater world.
How Certification Works
Start by learning core scuba concepts and terminology through classroom sessions or online study. After that, move into the pool to practice essential skills with direct instructor guidance. Once you’re comfortable, complete four open-water dives in the ocean or a lake to finalize your certification.

PADI eLearning typically costs around $230 USD, with in-water training fees set by your local Dive Shop. Contact your Dive Shop for exact pricing, and let them know if you’ve already purchased eLearning. Anyone 10 years or older can complete the course. Online learning lets you study at your own pace using videos, readings, and quizzes. In-water training with a PADI Instructor provides hands-on practice to develop safe diving skills.
